Diving into the vibrant world of Do’s & Dye, my inaugural blog post unfolds a tale of chance meetings, creative synergy, content creation and the journey of transforming blonde dreams.
It only feels right for Do’s & Dye to be my first blog post. I met Julie through one of my friends while complaining about my hair color. She was enthusiastic about me booking an appointment with Julie from Do’s & Dye. So as I do with all good hair advice, I ran with it and booked my highlights with Julie in June of 2023.
We instantly vibed, and I followed her on Instagram, knowing I would be continuing on with our relationship as a stylist and client. Fast forward a few months later to August, and I see Julie post on Instagram looking for a curling assistant for weddings. I had just decided that I didn’t want to go back to teaching and was looking for a job. I had always been good at curling and doing hair, so I reached out hoping it would be a fun, side-gig while I navigated my career move.
I went in and curled her hair and got the job! She also asked if I wanted to come help in the salon once or twice a week, and I took her up on it. As I spent more time in the salon with Julie and Abbey, I was inspired by their energy, Julie running her own business and crushing it. It made me rethink my business venture from a few years back when I originally started doing freelance graphic design. So, I started putting myself out there again, and of course, Julie was the first to support!
Every client I have is different; they have different needs and wants for my services. I am totally open to being flexible because business is really personal, so your options for the creative end of it should be customizable. I really believe in you telling your own story, with me to guide you in the ways you need.
Julie likes to create her content, and she comes up with really fun ideas. However, it’s a very time-consuming process, and we wanted to collaborate on a way to make that easier.
CONTENT CREATION:
I shoot b-roll and take photos for Do’s & Dye so Julie and Abbey have a bank of video to use and creative reels. We often come up with a few ideas for videos ahead of time too so we can film some planned content. We have also done a few photoshoots for Instagram and her website!
GRAPHIC DESIGN | INSTAGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Julie and I went through a creative process to create a series of stories that help her clients understand what she does and what her work is. We collaborated on copy, messaging, and design, and I created the graphics to reflect her vision.
The best part about this project is that through it all, I’ve made a really great friend and cheerleader.
Check out Julie on Instagram!
